Ahead of its grand opening in the Fall of 2025, Luther Classical College has secured the funds sought for its very first on-campus student house. This comes in the wake of the successful campus groundbreaking that took place in June of this year at the Casper, Wyoming site. “We are grateful to God for His gracious gifts to Luther Classical College,” says LCC President Rev. Dr. Harold Ristau, “and we pray for wisdom to steward these gifts for the sake of His children, that they may be edified and He may be glorified.”
Pledges needed to secure the first student house were raised through the college’s Home Sponsorship Program, a grassroots pledge program launched last year to directly fund the student houses. “It is beautiful to see such dedication from our support base across the country,” says Samuel Preus, Director of Development at LCC. “Folks are giving through their regular distributions, inheritances, and through other creative ways to become such a special part of this historic founding.” Individuals or organizations donating to LCC’s Home Sponsorship Program will be honored with their names engraved on campus.
Other generous donations have launched LCC into its “site work” stage of construction. By this summer, 100% of campus grading is expected to be complete. “Site grading has begun in earnest and is expected to be completed in early August,” explains Josh Witkop, Project Manager at Oftedal Construction, a Casper firm contracted by LCC for site development. Witkop adds, “To complete the first dorm(s) before school starts, we are working towards water/sewer installations this fall and foundations this winter, which will allow sufficient time to construct the dorm(s) in preparation for student move-in late summer 2025.”
There still remain funds in the order of $1.5 million needed for LCC to pursue its goals leading up to a single house. With sufficient fundraising, LCC is poised to accomplish a historic feat which will set the stage for a complete campus buildout over the next few years. Over $2.4 million has been raised toward LCC’s first phase of construction. Apart from major gifts, the college has over two dozen supporters participating in the Home Sponsorship Program through monthly gifts of $250 or more. The college plans to house 16-20 students at each on-campus house, with up to half of the student body residing on campus when the college is at full capacity.
