Financial Aid

In addition to pricing tuition within the reach of most families, Luther Classical College also offers internal scholarships and recommends third-party scholarships to keep students’ costs even lower.

LCC’s Internal Scholarships

1. Academic Merit Scholarship: Academic merit scholarships automatically will be awarded to all applicants who score exceptionally well on one or more of the standardized tests indicated. LCC will consider each applicant’s highest composite score on record. For the ACT, LCC will consider the applicant’s “superscore composite.”

  • 25% tuition scholarship: 104+ CLT, 34+ ACT, or 1490+ SAT
  • 20% tuition scholarship: 98–103 CLT, 32–33 ACT, or 1420–1480 SAT
  • 10% tuition scholarship: 93–97 CLT, 30–31 ACT, or 1360–1410 SAT
  • 5% tuition scholarship: 88–92 CLT, 28–29 ACT, or 1300–1350 SAT

2. Scholars’ Congregation Scholarship: The supporting congregations of LCC include Tier I Scholars’ Congregations and Tier II Scholars’ Congregations, based on each congregation’s annual donation to LCC. Each student whose home church was a Scholars’ Congregation during the fiscal year (July–June) preceding the current academic year will automatically receive a Scholars’ Congregation Scholarship as follows.

  • 10% tuition scholarship: Tier I Scholars’ Congregation (donating $5,000+ annually to LCC)
  • 5% tuition scholarship: Tier II Scholars’ Congregation (donating $2,500 to $4,999 annually to LCC)

3. Music Scholarship: After being accepted for admission, students intending to enroll in individual vocal or instrumental lessons may apply for a scholarship that covers a portion of the cost of those lessons.

Third-Party Scholarships

LCC students may be eligible to receive scholarships and grants from a variety of third parties and apply those awards to the costs of attending LCC.

  1. Classical Learning Test: In addition to LCC’s own Academic Merit Scholarship (above), which is linked to CLT scores, students who rank high nationally when taking the CLT10 may be awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the CLT that can be applied at LCC. For more information: cltexam.com/scholarships.
  2. LCMS Districts: Each district administers its own program. The Wyoming District has a scholarship for college students within Wyoming and the Nebraska panhandle who are preparing for full-time ministry at LCC: wylcms.org/forms. Contact your local district for more information.
  3. Lutheran Church Extension Fund: LCEF grants three national awards each year to high school graduates attending any college. lcef.org/scholarship.
  4. Lutheran Women’s Mission League: Each LWML chapter administers its own program. Contact your local LWML representative for details. Students within the Wyoming District may use this form: wyolwml.org/lwml_scholarship_application_form.
  5. Trinity Lutheran Church in Denver (LCMS): TLC has a scholarship fund available to any member of a Rocky Mountain District (RMD) congregation. The RMD is one of 35 districts of the LCMS, with 171 congregations, primarily in Colorado and New Mexico with several in Texas (El Paso), Utah, Arizona and Nebraska. Scholarships (usually $1,000 to $2,000) are provided to college students pursuing a church worker or pre-seminary track. For more information, email trinitylutheran@gototrinity.com.

Tax Credits and Tax-Exempt College Savings Plans

LCC students may be eligible for state or federal tax credits in view of tuition, fees, or other payments associated with college enrollment. Details vary by state.

LCC is currently working toward national accreditation in order to secure eligibility for its students’ participation in Educational Savings Accounts (ESAs), 529 Plans, the Lifetime Learning Credit, and the American Opportunity Credit.

LCC encourages students and their parents to contact a tax advisor for more information.

Government Grants and Loans

To avoid undue influence from federal policies, LCC intends not to seek eligibility for the GI Bill, Pell Grant, or Stafford Loans. Please refer to the Academic Catalog for more information about LCC’s stewardship philosophy.
